Young, Gay and Murdered

Kids are coming out younger, but are schools ready to handle the complex issues of identity and sexuality? For Larry King, the question had tragic implications.
Teenage Tragedy
A 15-year-old boy told family and friends he was gay. He dressed flamboyantly; he hit on a classmate. His murder made clear that issues of sexuality, at such a young age, can have heartbreaking consequences.
At 15, Lawrence King was small—5 feet 1 inch—but very hard to miss. In January, he started to show up for class at Oxnard, Calif.'s E. O. Green Junior High School decked out in women's accessories. On some days, he would slick up his curly hair in a Prince-like bouffant. Sometimes he'd paint his fingernails hot pink and dab glitter or white foundation on his cheeks. "He wore makeup better than I did," says Marissa Moreno, 13, one of his classmates. He bought a pair of stilettos at Target, and he couldn't have been prouder if he had on a varsity football jersey. He thought nothing of chasing the boys around the school in them, teetering as he ran.
But on the morning of Feb. 12, Larry left his glitter and his heels at home. He came to school dressed like any other boy: tennis shoes, baggy pants, a loose sweater over a collared shirt. He seemed unhappy about something. He hadn't slept much the night before, and he told one school employee that he threw up his breakfast that morning, which he sometimes did because he obsessed over his weight. But this was different. One student noticed that as Larry walked across the quad, he kept looking back nervously over his shoulder before he slipped into his first-period English class. The teacher, Dawn Boldrin, told the students to collect their belongings, and then marched them to a nearby computer lab, so they could type out their papers on World War II. Larry found a seat in the middle of the room. Behind him, Brandon McInerney pulled up a chair.
Brandon, 14, wasn't working on his paper, because he told Mrs. Boldrin he'd finished it. Instead, he opened a history book and started to read. Or at least he pretended to. "He kept looking over at Larry," says a student who was in the class that morning. "He'd look at the book and look at Larry, and look at the book and look at Larry." At 8:30 a.m., a half hour into class, Brandon quietly stood up. Then, without anyone's noticing, he removed a handgun that he had somehow sneaked to school, aimed it at Larry's head, and fired a single shot. Boldrin, who was across the room looking at another student's work, spun around. "Brandon, what the hell are you doing!" she screamed. Brandon fired at Larry a second time, tossed the gun on the ground and calmly walked through the classroom door. Police arrested him within seven minutes, a few blocks from school. Larry was rushed to the hospital, where he died two days later of brain injuries.

Macelebrityng Weekend
Ang lafang we did.
So gora kami sa GB3. Since on the way pa lang si Jimboi, dun na lang namin sya imimeet.
Habang ngdidrinkaloo, nagdecide kami magplay ng I have never. Ahihihi. I lvoe playing that game!
May time pa kaming magkape after nun. I'm not sure pero I think Jeremy yung pangalan nung isa. Ah basta nakikita ko sila sa tv. hahaha And then nung nagsisip-sip na kami ng coffee, nakita naman namin si Will Devaughn kasama si Rizza Santos. Wala lang. hehe. Masabi lang na may nakitang artista. hahaha.
Then ayun, go, go, go na sa The Dark Knight (which I loved, panoorin nyo din! Galing ni HL as Joker!!! Magpapaautograph sana ako kaso parang mayLQ sila so nahiya naman ako. ahihihi.
Kinabukasan, nood naman kami ng Mamma Mia! (fun, fun, fun, napapakanta pa ko! hahaha). Sa GB ulit. Habang nag-aantay, nagtime zone muna kami ni Jimboi. At nasightaloo namin naglalaro sina Brent Javier at Karen Pamintuan (ng Chill Spot sa ETC). Mukhang sila.
Pesensya madilim.)

Blackout? (Updated)
1. Do you want to experience blackout?
2. Are you free on July 25, 7pm onwards?
If you answered Yes to both questions, then proceed to the next question.
If you answered Yes to question 1 but No to question 2, it's ok, you can proceed to the next question.
If you answered No to question 1 but Yes to question 2, you can still proceed to the next.
If you answered No to both questions, well then, you might as well proceed, who knows you still might change your mind and say Yes.
3. Do you want to see them Bench models (Jake Cuenca, John Avila... drools, drools) live in the runway (did I say in their underwear?)
4. Do you have a date/partner you could take with you?
If you still answered Yes to both, lucky you, for I have two extra Upper Box B* invites for the Experience Blackout, the Bench Denim and Underwear Show happening this July 25, 7pm at the Araneta Coliseum. And I am giving it out to you. Yes you. (with no fine prints attached.)
If you want the invites, just leave a comment (with your link and/or contact info so I could get in touch with you).
If there are more than 1 person who would express interest in the invites, I'd raffle them off (via drawing of lots, with DTI representatives and all. hahaha).
Let's set the deadline for this on July 18, 9pm.
If no one would want them, it's ok, I'd probably just pin them in my workstation so I could see Jon Avila in briefs everyday. :)
Just a few reminders:
1. Invitations must be exchanged for actual ticket at the Araneta Coliseum ticket booth on the day of the event. LIMITED SEATS ONLY.
2. Show is strictly R-18.
3. No cameras, videocams or tape recorders inside the venue.
4. Please come early, show starts on time.
p.s. I'm not a Bench endorser/model though I admit I look like one. hihihihi
(*It should have been an Upper Box A invite, but I figured who wants to go alone right? So I opted for two UB B tix instead. I'm just not sure if you could trade them back to UB A should you want to watch alone.)
=====
With the presence of a DTI representative (actually, just my officemate Pepe who did the actually drawing), the two tickets would go to...
SABADEE.
But wait there's more!
ODIN.
Ayun lang po. Bow. Enjoy the show! :p

Princhecha Fiona's Run 2 @ OROFOLS
Having learned a few things from my first run, I was able to prepare better for this race.
I had a practice run two days before the race.
I bought a new pair of running shoes that is suited for my mid-high arched feet.
I purchased an ankle wrap for my chronic sprain.
I had a few hours of sleep so that I won't run like a zombie.
I had a bit of breakfast for a little boost of energy.
I brought my own energy drink so I wouldn't have to fall in line and waste time in the water station.
I donned a pair of shorter shorts so I'd look like a serious runner. lol
I even was able to convince Jimboi to run with me. Yay, I get to share the fun of running with Jimboi!
So off we went to the Fort.
The 16k race was about to start when we arrived. And then it started to rain! And we haven't checked-in our bags yet. I asked my officemate and runningmate Pepe if I could just leave our stuff in his car and he agreed.
We were just on our way to the parking lot when they announced that 5k runners should assemble at the starting line. By the time the announcer said go to signal the start of our race, we were still midway through the parking and the starting line! And so we started running!
It was fun running in the drizzle, it reminded me of my childhood when we used to play and bathe under the rain. Though I hated it that my new shoes are all wet and muddy! haha
Anyway, I swear I wouldn't run in these shorts ever again. Since it was raining, naturally the shorts became wet and then started to become clingy and then the friction caused blisters to my thighs! Ugh!
And then my eyeglasses started collecting raindrops that I couldn't see where I was going anymore. So I decided to just take them off. And then I rubbed my eyes forgetting I applied lotion earlier!
But I didn't mind all this I just ran and ran and ran until I couldn't run no more. I kept waiting for the mark that signals we're already halfway through. I was thinking, "I haven't even reached the middle of the course why am I feeling so exhausted? This can't be." SO I decided to walk a bit, then walk-jog.
And then I heard a marshal said (I swear this is what I've heard): "5k runners this way." And I told myself, "Finally, I'm near the middle" and so I started running again.
I haven't ran that long when I heard another marshal say "5k finishers, form a line here."
Oh shoot, is that it? Am I done already? I looked at my timer and I'm only at 28.08mins, 10 minutes less than my previous time. Wow, is this for real? I actually ran faster despite the rain? Cool!
Plus this group of college (or high school, I'm not sure)cutie guys behind me are part of the La Salle track team (I've heard them talking). And they're wearing tracksuits! Oh my double wow! haha
Jimboi finished waaaaay faster than I did. In fact he was already eating Krispy Kreme and drinking gatorade when I saw him. He claimed he clocked in at 16mins. Boy that's fast! I'm so proud of my Jimboi! :p
After getting our loot bags and other freebies, we proceeded to a breakfast with our running group (oh yes, I'm feeling super sporty I joined a running group! wahahaha). And there I met some famous bloggers! ;p
Then we went home and I spent the rest of Sunday sleeping. (The next day though, my legs didn't hurt as much as it hurt the first time I ran.)
======
As of the moment, the official results are not posted yet. But looking at the race route, I think I didn't ran the whole 5k route because I think I missed a turn. Turned out a lot of other runners missed this turn as well. Oh well! I guess the 10minute improvement from my PR isn't valid afterall. I knew it couldn't be real!
But good thing is there's always the next run to look forward to!
Ready, Set, Run! :P

No doc, I Can't Say AHHHHHHH.
I have a mouthsore. I have a monstrous mouthsore! I swear ang laki talaga! At sobrang sakit!
At dahil dun, I'm on a forced diet dahil effort ngumanga!
I hate it!

Theirstory continues - and now the end is near
Fiona could only be too happy with all of Jimboi’s time and attention. She could feel him caring for her. She could feel her falling hard for him. But can all of this really be?
Princhecha Fiona could not believe that the stars made her wish come true. She need not dream no more, need not feel jealous when she sees lovers acting sweety-loverish.
Her very own prince charming. In real life. Finally.
Though the prince, being tough and all, wished that their relationship be kept a secret at first. Princhecha didn't care at all if it was to be a clandestine affair. Afterall, what could she ask for? They were lovers, doing what lovers do- dates, dinners and what-have-yous. Who cares if the world wouldn't know of the love happening between the prince and her?
But as they say, secrets don't remain secrets for long. The people of Far, Far Away began noticing the something between the two. Who wouldn't notice the magic in their eyes when they look at each other? Add to the fact that they were always together.
One day, Princess Hakira borrowed Prince Jimboi's phone on the pretext of tinkering with it. She was just really trying to confirm all their suspicions. And she did when she found a message from Fiona that read "I love you." With that, the secret was out to the circle. Prince Jimboi never spoke to Hakira again.
Fiona didn't mind that the relationship was known but she asked that the knowledge of the relationship be kept within the circle explaining Prince Jimboi's issues and concerns.
But Princhecha still did not disclose their relationship to her closest friends. Until one day, in a party, Prince Jimboi decided to reveal the relationship to all of Fiona's friends much to their delight (and shock - they couldn't believe that Fiona was able to hold something like this from them that long) .
The sweet and lovely years would stroll along.
And like in fairytales, the story wouldn't be complete without the usual sinister characters. For one, there is the wicked troll of the north, Flerryda, who fell for Jimboi. And who asked the prince: "Are you sure you're the only guy in her life? I mean look at her, she is a princhecha. I'm certain she has played around" and "I will never go out with the likes of princhecha. Well maybe I would if I drank a barrel of alcohol first" and "I am not sure of me and my partner's future together. How about you? Are you breaking up with Fiona anytime soon?". He even went on to give Jimboi an apple laced with potion so he could get what he wants from him. Albeit with tears and drama, these dark chapters soon came to pass.
But unlike in fairytales, this one would not end with "and they live happily ever after."
For this is no fairytale.
(To her wishes, I would let Princhecha Fiona finish recounting theirstory. The last and final chapter of the tale you would hear in her voice. You all have been very good audience, thank you very much.)

38:42
Yesterday I wore a singlet, put on a pair of running shoes and sported a short shorts. Because yesterday I ran my first race. Oh yes, I am a runner now!
I was expecting to complete the whole 5km route in an hour but I did it in 38mins and 42 sec. Well, that is according to my timer for the official results posted added 10mins to my "official" time.
Finishing within the third quartile (and not collapsing in the middle of the race), I think I did not do so bad. Especially for a first timer. Especially for a first timer who has no sleep prior the race. (Much as I want to sleep the night before the race, I couldn't. And nope, it wasn't because I was excited. not entirely. I normally sleep at around 4-5am. The race was at 6am so I didn't even get forty winks.)
In fact I think I did a bit good. I wasn't fit. I had little to no preparation. But I still managed to finish ahead of some tall, muscular, hunky guys. So I say great job Fiona!
And I never knew there were a lot of cute runners! Oh my goodness there were a couple of eye candies! In fact I was running side by side with one but a quarter within the race he started pacing fast I couldn't keep up and all I could say (in my mind of course) was "Bye hun, catch you later at the finish line."
I would certainly be running again. Hopefully next time with some sleep, a little more training and a shorter shorts! (And without the anti-climactic finish and the incorrect race time.)
p.s.
I'll leave the medals to seasoned runners. I'm not running to win (coz I know I can't, try as I may). I'd just race for the fun of it, and definitely for the cute guys. :)
Ready, Set, Run!

Baby, I Want One Too!
Lately, I'm crushing on hot daddies na may karga-kargang babies.

Sabi nya, "Ang cute-cute naman! Parang gusto ko na din magkababy!"
Sabi ko naman, "I want one too!!!

Boy That's Weird
I got tagged by Mugen. The rules are: This game starts with 6 weird things about you. People who got tagged need to write a blog entry of their own 6 weird things. They should state this rule clearly as well. At the end of the list, tag 6 people. Don't forget to inform each newly-tagged person by posting a comment on his/her own blog.
Since I don't consider myself weird I'm having a rather difficult time thinking what to write. (Yeah right! Actually, I'm having difficulty which six among the 100-weird-things-about-me I should include here. hahaha)
Here goes:
1. I love reading things most people don't even care about- labels, instructions, notices, warranties, receipts, manuals (oh I love reading manuals!!!) - everything! Fine prints and all.
2. I arrange paper bills on my wallet according to value and each "face" faces the same side.
3. I couldn't sleep without the electric fan on - even if it there's a storm. I'd have it on even if I am shaking with cold and am wrapped in blanket!
4. Sometimes when I am walking, I count my steps. Or if there are tile patterns, I'd secretly play step-no-step-yes. Or sometimes I play follow the line (stepping on/following the cracks or lines on the floor/road. Silly, I know but hey it's fun to be a child sometimes!
5. I love to sing but I really find it hard to memorize the lyrics. So much for auditioning for PDA or Idol. When I want to sing along with what's playing, I use google. If a computer is not available, then I just hum silently the parts I don't know then sing out loud the parts that I do know (usually the chorus hahaha). But I don't like "inventing" my own lyrics (and hate it when I hear people do. hihihi).
6. I tend to notice a lot of the things that are happening around me. It's not my intention to eavesdrop on other people's conversations, say in a restaurant or in puvs or in the mall, but I usually pick up what they're talking about even if I am in a conversation with someone. I don't really intend to listen in, but I do hear. (Oh, I'm such a chismosa.)
(I'm not tagging anyone but people, feel free to share your weirdness! It's good to know that some other individuals are in one way or another odd too!)

A gift hunting activity.

Tanong nya, pano ko bubuksan to?

Pigs
Pigs are pigs regardless of form, age, sex, color, size, educational attainment.
But what sent my eyebrows flying skyhigh is this pig who is literally a pig! Dude, come on (eyes rolling)! Where would you even get that idea? Why do you have to stare at me like I'm an alien or something? You disgusted by my presence? And you think I am not by yours?
I'm sorry but I am not a cannibal - I don't eat my own.
And who do you think you are? In a room full of eye candy, would I choose a porkchop? You got to be kidding me. I didn't know pigs can be funny too.
